“As a Rutherford County native, I’d always heard the benefits of Isothermal: a quality education at a fraction of the cost with an Associate program that allows one to transfer into a four-year school as a junior.

It wasn’t until I decided to go back to school at twenty-six that I saw for myself what a fantastic resource Isothermal Community College truly is. I’ve heard horror stories of college experiences in which students feel alienated or directionless, but I cannot relate because my experience at Isothermal was precisely the opposite. I was nervous coming back to school as a non-traditional student, but my concerns were quickly put to rest after the first few weeks.

The instructors knew my name and were already working closely with me to ensure I understood the material. At Isothermal, I was able to get the most out of my education because I was taught by brilliant instructors who were genuinely invested in my future. As hokey as it sounds, I learned a lot about myself at Isothermal. The instructors helped me develop my talents and worked with me through my weaknesses.

As a result, I was able to get a job at Isothermal’s writing center where I discovered a love of teaching and saw firsthand the level of dedication that is the standard at Isothermal. The instructors there recognized this passion and continue to coach and encourage me. I am now in my senior year at UNC-Asheville where I will graduate with a bachelors in English.”
