CONTINUING EDUCATION FOCUS

Your dream. Our mission.

Growth as a professional or individual never ends – learning is continual – development is ongoing.

Not everyone has the luxury of being able to spend four, five or sometimes six years attending classes, studying, volunteering, participating in internships, enjoying campus activities and following a career-training path that can take several years.

Some people may not have the financial means to achieve an advanced degree, although Isothermal makes that a lot easier with the Powers Promise! Others can’t relocate and set up residence in some other area to gain advanced training. Some workers find themselves displaced from a job they have held for decades and haven’t been in a classroom since high school. Oftentimes, people have a family to support and can’t leave the workplace in order to further their training.

Answering the call is the Continuing Education Department at Isothermal Community College, which is at the forefront of helping individuals gain the skills they need to start a new career or to get ahead in their existing job.

Continuing Education is the community’s source for adult learners who want to hone particular workplace skills, need certification in certain areas, improve their marketability or simply need a refresher course.

A small sampling of classes throughout the year includes:

Fire, Rescue and Emergency Training including a program for first responders to bridge into an EMT degree and certification

  • Certified Nurse Aid
  • Massage Therapy
  • Truck Driving
  • Computer Skills
